Elite Scholar Tutoring Delivers Measurable Student Success With Microgrant Support

Elite Scholar Tutoring recently delivered an eight-session Level Up ILEARN workshop with Tindley Accelerated Schools, helping 50 seventh and eighth grade students strengthen their skills and achieve measurable results.

This work was supported by a microgrant from Indy Black Businesses, awarded to founder Makailya to help expand the organization’s targeted academic programs.

Over the course of the program:

  • 80 percent of students showed measurable growth from the pre- to post-assessment in both math and English Language Arts
  • 100 percent of students scored a perfect 12 out of 12 on the final post-assessment
  • Student ILEARN scores improved, with some students doubling their scores

The microgrant provided resources to develop custom curriculum materials, cover printing and supplies for the workshops, and fund additional tutoring sessions for students who needed extra support. One third grade student passed the IREAD-3 exam after previously failing twice, earning a score well above the required passing mark.

The additional support also made it possible for Elite Scholar Tutoring to take on larger projects such as the Level Up ILEARN series and to expand into new services, including IREAD-3 preparation, ILEARN preparation, and SAT support.

Stories like Elite Scholar Tutoring’s show that even modest, targeted support can spark meaningful growth. The right resources, paired with a clear vision, can open doors to new programs, expanded services, and measurable results in the community.
