KeyBank Invests $300,000 in Indianapolis Urban League’s Entrepreneurship Center to Empower Black-Owned and Minority Businesses

KeyBank and the KeyBank Foundation have announced a $300,000 investment in the Indianapolis Urban League (IUL) to strengthen and expand its Entrepreneurship Center program. This funding will help the IUL deliver enhanced training, resources, and support to Black-owned, minority-owned, and other underserved small businesses throughout Central Indiana.

Empowering More than 250 Businesses Over Two Years

With this new funding, the IUL plans to serve more than 250 local entrepreneurs over the next two years. Participants will gain access to professional guidance, workshops, and classes designed to improve essential business skills. Topics include financial literacy, business management, and strategic marketing—core competencies that help entrepreneurs position their ventures for sustainable growth and long-term success.

Removing Barriers to Growth and Access to Capital

The Entrepreneurship Center works to address common challenges facing local business owners, such as limited access to capital and networks. Through one-on-one mentorship and targeted programming, the IUL aims to reduce financial barriers, streamline day-to-day operations, and connect entrepreneurs with valuable resources. The overarching goal is to help more businesses thrive, create jobs, and contribute to a stronger economic landscape in Indianapolis and surrounding communities.

A Commitment to Economic Empowerment

The Indianapolis Urban League remains dedicated to fostering an inclusive economy that supports the advancement of underserved groups. KeyBank’s investment aligns with this mission and underscores its commitment to promoting equity and opportunity at the local level. By fueling the Entrepreneurship Center’s growth, both organizations are actively working to uplift the next generation of business leaders, build wealth in historically marginalized communities, and strengthen Central Indiana’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
